FIGG (Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy) is a burgeoning field that is encompassing many areas, and is in the news every day. It isn't rocket science, but it demands skill with tools that are ever-changing, intense concentration for long periods of time, sensitivity, the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality, the ability to work well with others, and lastly, a dogged determination.
Karen came to this field after solving a personal family mystery, and with an unfulfilled dream to have been a forensic chemist, for which logistics never allowed. She enrolled in UNH's rigorous FGG graduate certificate program to gain expertise to be able to help others, whether by helping with the backlog of cold cases, giving names to the unidentified, or helping the mistakenly convicted regain their freedom.
